Quick-Release Bowline Knot .2
This video is a re-shoot of the original video showing how to tie a Quick-Release Bowline Knot. The actual knot tying portion was re-shot for a better view. It should be noted that although the Quick-Release is handy for use around a camp for various purposes, it should not be used or climbing or any type of life-support.

    This gives me the idea to use an umbrella with some broken "arms" to help collect rain water. I can open the umbrella, poke a hole near the apex of it, and sit it upside down on a bucket. Weight it with a rock, if necessary. It won't collect as much water as yours did, but it's a pretty simple thing to do and since I already have a broken umbrella, it is basically free. Thanks for the inspiration with your invention!

    At 4:17, that is the same as a very Swedish fence called a gärdsgård or hankgärdsgård and have been around for more than a 1000 years. Maybe the other one is Swiss?

  • @canadafree2087
    @canadafree2087 Месяц назад

    They come with a split cord. Force the cord out and reverse it if you want a loop. Don't loose the cord stopper inside. Add a mini chemlight glow stick commonly found at Basspro to give you minimal light in dark places.

    Too much parallax if one does one's azimuth the way you say with a mirror compass,, although of course what you state about baseplate compasses is absolutely true and fairly obvious. In addition, you've done a false equivalence with a hand gun. Much of the reason for holding a handgun out in front is to brace and not have movement in the process or aiming or firing. A compass has neither the weight nor the recoil of a handgun both of which cause movement. The v-notch of a typical high quality mirror compass is certainly small enough to eliminate the problem you are describing. The parallax is a far bigger problem. I respect your experience, but like you I've taught and handled both compasses and firearms for years. And I've experimented with other super accurate compasses (more even than Lensatic ones although I know them having grown up with them and owning several currently. My experiments do not support what you are recommending.

    I have been experimenting too. I got some wedding veil material, a bucket, and a bungee cord long enought to go tightly over the bucket. The w.v. has to be long enough to be held down by the b.c. The material is tight and won't let debri fall into the bucket...not using a rock tho

    Great survival tool. Be prepared. One little bracelet that can help you escape a submerged or burning vehicle when power windows won't work. No searching around the cabin for it, it's on your wrist. Remember, you first must survive the car accident. You will probably be disoriented, shook up, or in shock. You will do what you practice. So if you buy this, do as this man does. Practice. Practice. Practice. Then you may have better odds of surviving. No tool works by itself. You must practice. Be safe🛡️

    The nice thing John, is that it doesn't look like a water bottle bag. The only problem with your site is that when something goes out of stock it may be out of stock for over a year. Many times I thought to place another order but then 1, 2, 3, items were out of stock it wasn't worth putting in half an order and pay double shipping if the items came back in stock in the distant future.

    Why would a magnetic compass LIE in regard to our True North? I've done calculations all over my life and my compass has always pointed out n the same direction, no deviation whatsoever. One wonders how on Earth the magnetic north shifts every year. Lies built over Lies is what makes people FOOLS on their beliefs. Tomorrow 'experts' will say birds are Elephants flying.

    Very good explanation. I don't agree though that if not using a map no need to adjust declination since true north is still real so map or no map I want a true bearing on my straight edge to a true direction. As a young fellow in B.C., I am 65 if we went west there were no roads for 640 airmiles.

    A portion of the water system that feeds our city and a few others is being shut down for repairs for all of March and into early April. During that time, all outdoor watering (sprinklers, drip irrigation, hand watering) will be forbidden. If we're lucky, we'll get enough rain for the outdoor plants to not need it. But that's a dicey proposition. This may be a nice temporary solution to at least keep the plants from drying out during the repairs. I already own six 5-gallon buckets, so maybe a few more and some good luck with a few timely rainstorms will save the day! :)
